Our History

Over thirteen years ago, a small group of like minded individuals began the ground work for what would become the KoSA experience.  We felt there was a need to bring the attention of music and all its positive power to as many as we could.  We created—from scratch—the faculty, the identification of facilities, the course structure and events.

We knew we wanted to do more than just connect participants with the greatest professionals, professors and performers — we wanted to bring an expanded educational and experiential philosophy to the table as well.

Essentially, we know that music is the ONLY universal language.  It transcends all social, economic, cultural and political boundaries.  Within every KoSA project, this is our core philosophy: that with the sharing of music, the world works better.

Much better.

It is ultimately what sets KoSA events apart from any other type of education or "camp" experiences, and what makes all KoSA projects so very special.

Since we began the KoSA adventure, hundreds of world renown artists, thousands of participants and many thousands of festival attendees have shared in the magic that is created when great performers become great teachers within an ideal enviroment, structure and philosophy.

We have found that the "sharing" that occurs, is multi-faceted — not only do KoSA participants learn from the Masters of their craft, but the Masters learn from the participants and from each other.  As KoSA Faculty alumnus Gordon Gottlieb stated just after 2006's KoSA11, "...thanks for providing the best 'hang' in the land."

Thank you, Gordon.  We couldn't have stated the growth of our mission any more eloquently.

Press Information

KoSA has produced events and/or participated in events in the U.S., Canada, Cuba, Australia, and Europe.  Headquartered in Montréal, KoSA's ongoing mission is to create "whole person" education environments; creating an experience  where each participant not only learns performance techniques on a variety of specialist instruments, but also learns and lives with members of the Artist Faculty instructors, within a complete and intensive sharing environment.  After more than a decade of producing this unique type of event, we have received hundreds of testimonials stating that KoSA not only exceeds participants' expectations from a learning standpoint, but actually has changed many participant's (and Artist's) viewpoint on how the world could work, with simple courtesy, participation and focus.

We are creating a Press Photo page, that features thumbnails of KoSA photos.  Click on these thumbnails, and the link will provide an RGB image suitable for offset press resolution.  CMYK versions are available by simple request.  For more information about KoSA, please contact our Montréal office (contact info at left).  For specific image requests, please contact Peter Bruce Wilder at pbwilder@gmail.com.  For an overview, please visit our KoSA 11 photo archive (CLICK HERE).
