The workshop will provide fundamental understanding of tabla, beginning with its alphabet and sentence structure.
Participants will look at how the alphabet is used to create compositions and explore its interplay with various rhythmic
cycles. The workshop will create a greater appreciation of what is considered to be one of the most difficult and intricate
percussion instruments of the world. We will explore how these rhythm concepts are applicable for drums and percussion
in western music.
Who? No drums or experience required, just your curiosity about the musical rhythms that are created on this amazing
classical Indian instrument. This workshop can be enjoyed by all participants. All musicians can benefit from this unique
workshop.
Bio: Pandit Divyang Vakil is one of the world's most respected Tabla Gurus. His years of intense practice, colossal
